During this time she has worked in a domestic violence shelter, doing individual and group therapy with children, and parenting classes with their mothers. She also delivered domestic violence education and parenting education in the community. Wendy has also worked with the seriously mentally ill population in an advocacy role and created quality training programs for providers of behavioral health services, one of which is utilized by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Furthermore, she developed a training program for behavioral health licensing surveyors, in order that they will provide quality oversight of behavioral health facilities. Currently, she is implementing a quality assurance plan for a national child abuse prevention and treatment agency. Wendy Shepherd is the co-chair of the Greater Phoenix Child Abuse Prevention Council, and a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, the Society for Philosophical Inquiry, and PEN America. Wendy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Arizona State University, and received a thesis of distinction from Barrett Honors College at ASU, while completing curriculum for Social and Behavioral Sciences. Currently, Wendy is earning a Masters Degree in Communication and Advocacy through Arizona State University. Wendy facilitates two philosophical discussion groups in the valley, and has multiple hobbies such as exploring geology, hiking, camping, art projects, and reading.
